SITEMAP
Overall, this site was to essentially be the hub online for Hoops for Homes- to help promote, explain & drive action for the youth basketball tournament founded by Derrick Coleman in partnership with Whirlpool!
The site that I designed overall follows all the important elements that we learned in class, such as using a easy to nacarat layout that is visually appealing, it has visuals, it speaking’s I the F-pattern layout, evokes emotional triggers, uses storytelling, clear language, and actionable calls to get involved.
Home Page
- Main heading- HOOPS FOR HOME IS More Than a Game- It’s a Situation Changer, Community Builder & A shot at sparking something far greater for youth
- Purpose– The home page was meant to act as a quick into what Hoops for homes is, what we do and guide them to look and interact with other pages on the site.
- Why- this was important to do because in many cases it is our trailer and the first Impression that we have when people are coming to our site. Meaning that it needs to grab attention fast, spark interest, provide emotional impact and give clear direction.
The Story Behind the Game
- Purpose- to actually go deeper into what Hoops for Homes what we do, who our founders are, and everything they need to know about us
- Why- this was important to do because this not only gives them information about who we are, but also helps with credibility. For example, this page talked about Derrick Coleman, who is from this community, who became a NBA All-Star and is doing this based on his lived experience and to give back and help people who were like him. This overall will help foster and connect emotionally with readers- which helps build trust and credibility- which is important as it shows that this is a movement, not just a tournament.
- Main heading- The Load Michigan Families Have Been Carrying Isn’t Just Laundry
Game Day
- Main Headline- What’s Happening On & Off the Court
- Purpose- this page is basically to inform people on everything they need to know about the event- such as the who, what, where, when and why. It is the Info hub for players, families and teams and is very important to have- especially considering this specific company is a movement that does not sell products but rather is throwing a charitable event
- Why- This page serves a functional goal for people to register & get involved, get all the information they actually need to know about the event
Get Involved /Landing Page
- Purpose- this landing page is simply focused on one thing- getting people to get involved and telling the ways that they can -with the single Main call-to-action asking them to get involved- whether it’s by becoming a volunteer, registering a team etc.
- Why- This was done because landing pages are the most effective at getting people to convert and act on the specific actions we want them to. For this landing page I made sure that I focused on ONE CTA, broken down into 5 clear, scannable ways to get involved and also tailored You emotional triggers like “reminding kids they matter”- to help drive them to action. the overall outcome and goal of this page is to get people to convert and to turn supporters into donors, sponsors, or volunteers.
Our Sponsors
- Purpose- the our sponsored page was created and implanted to highlight, introduce our sponsors and show them the overall impact
- Why- this is important as it helps build trust, introduce and give our sponsors the credit and recognitions they deserve, makes us look more credible, tells them how/ whey they are involves and also since we are showing real partnerships- its helping us build brand authority and trust.
FAQ Page
- Purpose-We added a FAQ page to help answer common questions, to highlight specific points that may be missed in other sections and also to help with SEO
- Why- As talked about in Class FAQs are great because they not only save the readers time but they also save us time as it means we are not answering multiple questions the same time. Additional, it’s a great opportunity to address and connect with the audience to answer specific questions that they want to know about- which overall can help with engagement and reduce bounce rates as we are essentially giving readers exactly what they need + It also helps move users closer to action by removing confusion. So overall by having this page we are hoping to answer and address barriers and objections anyone may have- so people are more likely to engage or register.
On the sidelines blog
- Purpose – We added a blog because its great for SEO, its perfect for sharing real stories, sharing content that emotionally connects with people and writing other specific content that is related to the cause and can be of benefit- plus a lot of blog posts are sharable!
- Why – As talked about in class blogs help build trust, drive traffic, and keep people engaged since the on the sidelines, blog has a mix of emotional stories, impact stats, and behind-the-scenes content to show the impact and mission of Hoops for Homes from another perspective- while also supporting our content strategy with attraction, authority and get actually help people get involved and also be more included to share the cause.
