2. Provide the content for each page. Ensure that each page includes the various content elements and structure as discussed in class. For each page, provide in-depth reasoning for your approach, goals, the content and the desired results. Make sure you address the concepts we discussed in class. (20 marks)
Reasoning
– F-pattern – as talked about in class the f pattern is extremely important to use when writing content as it matches how people scan text when reading online. Meaning I made sure I put the most important info on the left, used bullets, lists and also headings to make the text scannable and in the f pattern. This is important because “The[xvii] F-Pattern design helps you establish a visual hierarchy and an intentional flow for getting visitors to focus on specific elements. If you can get them to follow the path you want, they’ll be less likely to bounce and instead be more engaged and take action on your page.”
– Plain Language- as talked about in class we are supposed to use plain language when writing- because people online don’t like reading meaning we need to get the most important information across – by saying the least amount possible. This is very important because as talked about in class “Using plain language actually makes critical information accessible and readable for everyone. By writing plainly and simply, you: increase the chances that people will find, read and understand your information from any device. make your information more accessible to people with disabilities.” [xviii]
– Visuals- as learned in class, people love visuals and visuals have a lot of impact on the content as a while. This is the case because visuals are able to essentially tell the story faster and also draw people in. This is proven by how almost all the best performing platforms are visual based- such as Instagram, TikTok Pinterest etc this is because as learned in class “visuals on average get 94% more views than text-based information, visuals increase retention by 42% as Images convey what words can’t and our human minds are wired to respond to the image, he human brain processes visual information 60,000x faster than visual text, Content with visuals/ videos attracts 3x more inbound links” [xix]
– Internal linking- as learned in class internal linking is not only effective for SEO but also because it helps guide users through your site far more effectively the next step- rather than just stay at a brick wall. Additionally, “Internal links encourage visitors to explore related pages. This keeps them on your site longer, increases the likelihood of conversions, and helps them find the exact information they need.” [xx]
– Used colors that evoke emotions and are also on theme for the brand-. For hoops for homes the colors I choose to use are red and orange not only because they are perfect for the basketball theme but also for the emotions they help evoke. In fact “The use of red signals urgency and evokes strong emotions. Want to make something impossible to ignore? The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting and fun” [xxi] Plus “Orange is a attention-getting color. People cannot help but look when they see an orange logo. It can ignite feelings of joy, optimism, and enthusiasm, encouraging potential customers to engage with your brand.” [xxii]
– Used storytelling- as talked about in class storytelling is extremely important to use- meaning that I effectively utilized this writing strategy to effectively get the message across in a impactful way and also to help the user actually understand the content better. This is important because “Stories and emotions build trust: Giving your audience a glimpse into your worldview, values, brand personality, and origin story can help you build trust and credibility with them – the key ingredient for driving conversions and improving customer loyalty” [xxiii]
– As talked about in class we should always give our users a next step and tell them to do something next- ad it leaves them from having to search on there own what to do next (which they won’t do because they are lazy- and also can keep them on our site longer plus actually get them to convert.
– Action-driven content- when I was writing for them to do something, I made sure I used action-driven words- especially on the landing page to help drive them to action. Additionally, “Using action verbs in your content encourages users to take specific steps, enhancing engagement.”[xxiv]

I overall used this to show that what we do works, used stories to deepen belief and boost credibility and gave audiences a reason to believe and also give donors/ volunteers the push they need to get involved and also to give them a reason to stay on the site and keep exploring.
This was done all in the effort to build long-term trust, get people to share stories, return to the site and understand why this cause is ongoing—not one-time.

Additionally, on this page, I talked about Derick Colman and his NBA career and how this mission is extremely impactful for him and also is his way of inspiring and uplifting his community + kids and families that are within it. This page was to highlight that Hoops for Homes is not just a PR event or a charity for coverage- it’s an impactful movement that is creating real change off the court!
By doing this I was hoping to not only highlight and build up our sponsors + give them the credit they deserve- but also to help build credibility by highlighting trusted partners, showing potential sponsors what’s possible when brands invest in the community & overall Turn page viewers into future partners or donors.
